Are You Really Ready To Go To The Casinos?
Is your Casino Arsenal packed?

Toothpaste, hairbrush, clothes, watch, and of course your lucky charms are all packed in your suitcase ready for your trip to the casinos. But wait, are you really ready? Let's make a quick check thru things before you go.

Player Cards, Coupons, and Important reminders of events - If you are going to a gaming destination and plan to visit more than one casino try this: Use ziplock baggies to sort your coupons and cards by casino. It is quick and easy to see thru the bag and know which ones are the ones you plan to use. Nothing is more frustrating than to get to a casino and you can't find your coupons or cards.

Coupons....
Your mail out coupons if you are a regular player at the casinos and receive the enticements to come back.
Don't forget to check your local newspaper,
Casino Player Magazine, and Strictly Slots Magazine
The casino's website for printable coupons (some do have them!),
Call or write the destination's tourism bureau for booklet and or coupons
Check online for Casino swap coupon sites
Your casino bible, the American Casino Guide by Steve Bourie.

Player Cards - The most valuable item you can take plus your driver's license in case you hit the big one. You must have a photo ID issued from your state or federal government. Most casinos are very strict on proper identification.
If you do not have a player's card please go to the casino player's booth as soon as you arrive and register for one. They are free.  Get more than one if you can, just in case you lose one.
If you haven't been in awhile and you think you may have an older card, leave it at home.  Who knows it may be a collector item some day, get a new one.  I sold a 2 year old temporary card to a collector for $50.  You just never know what's down the road.

Events, Casino Promotions, and Entertainment List - Time disappears in casinos. If there is a certain concert, drawing or tournament you want to catch at a particular casino, write it DOWN or print it out from the internet. Put it in your baggie for that casino. I know it sounds silly but it sure prevents some "oh darns".  Oh....and don't forget to wear a watch. There are no clocks in casinos.

Misc
A blank envelope or envelopes - These are invaluable in money management. Stash back your allotted play for a certain gaming session and or stash back some winnings for later.  The best idea I have heard on the envelope trick is to mail your winnings home to yourself.  That way you don't spend it and have a nice surprise when you get home. (get money order don't mail cash)

Clothespin - What? A clothespin..   yup.  You have been out late on the gaming floor, it's your trip, you deserve to oversleep the next morning....drapes don't shut all the way....grab the clothes pin and secure the drapes together. Oh and before you close your eyes check the alarm clock to make sure the guest before you didn't set it for 5am.
I also have to pass along a tip from my friend, Ed. He never leaves home without Duct Tape.  It cures the drapery problem, the won't stay put shower curtain problem, and is handy when your luggage explodes in the airport.

Fanny pack - Ladies don't take your purse on the casino floor. When ever you have a place with that much money floating around, there is always someone wanting to take a share of someone else's one way or another.  Not to mention losing it or forgetting it.
If you don't like fanny packs you can purchase inexpensive lightweight camera carrying cases with a shoulder strap.  These are great and have lots of little pockets to help you organize.  Or fancy up with a shoulder evening bag, wear it like a necklace.  What ever your choice may be, just be alert and don't ask for trouble by being too trusting or not alert.

Ones - To save time, trouble and embarrassment before you start your Casino adventure tuck away at least $20 in one dollar bills for tips, where you can get to them quickly and easily.

These are a few reminders for now. Hope some or all was helpful in some way to make your trip easier or more enjoyable.

Good Luck and Happy Casinoing.

Jen
