Fall has arrived in Tunica. What trees we do have are turning.
The white fields are slowly disappearing.
The cotton is being harvested. This year the farmers planted less cotton and more soybeans and milo.
I have had numberous inquires asking what is that short corn looking plant. It is
Sorghum Milo. A grain much like oats or barley and is used for livestock feed. The seeds in the top reddish bloom are harvested. Milo is almost equal to corn as feed and grows better than corn in hot climates. The other crops you see around the casinos include rice and soybeans.
October 25th is Delta Days, a local Fall Festival, held in Downtown Tunica. Fun for all the Family.
There will be an Antique Car Show, Pet Parade, a children's tractor pull, children's Halloween Costume contest, face painting, petting zoo, the list goes on and on. Craft exhibit starts at 9am. You can guarantee there will be lots of fun for the whole family. If you are in town and need to do something for the kids, here it is.
Are you looking for a nice quiet place to stay when visiting the casinos? How about a Bed and Breakfast? Once Upon A Time Bed and Breakfast is now open at 1149 Main Street Tunica, MS.
What was a Southern Cottage in the 19th century is now a charming bed and breakfast. Rates run approximately $149 per night. Check out their website. www.onceuponatimetunica.com
On to the casinos. Just like the rest of the country most everyone is having to tightened their belts.
There are a few changes in comps and cashback policies, unfortunately that's one of the ways it has to be. Gambler's are spending less so the belts have to be tightened a notch. We are seeing more promotions and gift give aways. If you pay attention and take advantage of some of the promos you can help take the edge off of your gift buying. Promos
