Arkabutla Lake is one of four Flood Damage Reduction reservoirs in North Mississippi. Located less than 30 minutes south of the Tennessee state line, and just minutes from the Tunica Area Casinos, Arkabutla Lake is the nearest U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project to the Memphis metropolitan area. With an annual visitation exceeding 2 million people, Arkabutla Lake accommodates a wide variety of recreational interest throughout the entire year. The Arkabutla Lake project includes 57,250 total acres of land and water. The dam is 11,500 feet long with an average height of 67 feet. There are 37,700 acres of land at the project which are open to the public for hunting. Arkabutla Lake became operational in 1943. 
Camping Areas:
CLASS A - Dub Patton - 66 campsites - Amenities: Picnic Table, grill, tent pad, and electrical/water hook ups. Also has RV dump station Hernando Point - 83 campsites - Amenities: Picnic Table, grill, tent pad, and electrical/water hook ups. Also has RV dump station South Abutment - 80 campsites - Amenities: Picnic Table, grill, tent pad, and electrical/water hook ups. Also has RV dump station Fee: $10 to $18 per night, March 1 to October 31 depending on the site and campground selected. $10 - $16 in the off season. Reservations for Class A sites at these camping areas may be made by calling the National Recreation Reservation System's toll free number 1-877-444-6777 or on the internet at www.reserveusa.com. CLASS C - Outlet Channel - 65 campsites. Amenities: Flush toilet, vault toilet, no shower, picnic table, grill, and no sanitary disposal station. Fee: $6 per night, May 1 through September 30, free of charge in the off season. All campsites are non-reserve and available as "first come-first serve". CLASS D - Kelley's Crossing - 24 campsites. Amenities: Vault toliet, picnic table and grill. Pleasant Hill - 10 campsites. Amenities: Vault toliet, picnic table and grill. Dub Patton (Class D) area - 15 campsites. Amenities: Vault toliet, picnic table and grill. Fee: $5 per night, May 1 through September 30, free of charge in the off season. All campsites are non-reserve and available as "first come-first serve". Day Use Fee Areas: 7 Boat Launching Ramps are available. 3 Swimming Beaches are available. Fees: $3 per day to use a boat launching ramp $1 per day per person to use a swimming beach, maximum $4 per vehicle per day. Annual Pass for Day User Fees - $30 Special Use Facilities: 7 picnic shelters are available to reserve for $30 per day by calling (662)562-6261. Fishing License: Fishing licenses can be purchased at most bait shops and there are several around Arkabutla Lake. Directions: Arkabutla Dam is located in north Mississippi, 30 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee, west of Interstate 55. The project can be reached using the Hernando (Exit 280) or Coldwater (Exit 271) exit off I-55. Arkabutla Dam is on Scenic Loop 304.
